Figures are read first and often alone. Yours will be screenshotted into someone else’s slide deck, printed in greyscale by a reviewer, and looked at for four seconds by a programme committee member deciding whether to read the abstract. A figure that needs the body text to make sense fails all three. This is also the cheapest place in the whole curriculum to improve how your work is received, because the fix is an hour and the effect is on every reader.
Rougier, Droettboom & Bourne, “Ten Simple Rules for Better Figures”, PLOS Computational Biology 2014. Short, free, and the best single thing published on this. It covers principles. It does not know your data.
None. Note that Accessibility in this same milestone adds requirements to the same figure — read them together and rebuild once.
Take one figure from your own results — ideally the one you expect to be the paper’s headline.

This replaces your writing entry for the week you do it. Submit it to that week’s WW assignment in Canvas — the same one you would have submitted anyway. It is not an extra piece of work on top of the log.
You do not submit anything to the milestone yet. When all five skills in M4 are done, submit the M4 — The Manuscript assignment, which is just an index saying which week each one went in.
